Have you ever been told you're not assertive enough?

Have you ever been validated that you can sell exactly the way you are?

Or have you spent most of your sales life being told to do things that felt weird, awkward, and completely unlike you? Be more assertive. Close harder. Follow up faster. Push a little more.

So I have. As a Retriever, I was regularly told I wasn't assertive enough in my sales approach. For a long while I believed I was the problem, and the reason I struggled to close. So I kept trying to be a version of myself that didn't come naturally, and it was exhausting. Worse, it didn’t even work!

I recently sat down with someone who knows that feeling well. She is warm, trustworthy, and the kind of person people are drawn to immediately. And yet she had been struggling in the same ways I had been: trying to force a sales style that didn't fit, and wondering why it felt like such a fight.

Within a few minutes of talking, I was able to identify her Trust Style and show her exactly why her natural approach isn't a weakness. It is the whole strategy.

If you follow me on LinkedIn or YouTube, you may have already seen this conversation. If not, go here to watch this short conversation. Watching someone have that moment of recognition in real time is worth a few minutes of your day.

Your Trust Style is not just a personality label. It is a practical guide to:

  • Where your sales energy naturally belongs

  • Which activities will build trust most effectively for you

  • Where your blind spots are likely hiding

  • What you should probably stop forcing yourself to do

When you fight your natural Trust Style, you burn out. When you work with it, selling can actually start feeling less like selling and just doing what you do naturally. Serving your clients.

At the end of that video, she said something I think most of you will recognize immediately.

She knew what she was good at. She just struggled to get it out without overcomplicating it. That is not a “her problem”. That is a Trust Style awareness problem. And that is exactly what this work is designed to solve.

Have you been given your Trust Style yet? Do you know how to interpret it and apply it to the way you actually sell? If not, that is where we start.
